On July 1, 2024, we proudly launched the ABCD Lab (Astrocytes in Brain and Cognition Development Lab).
Our mission is to uncover how astrocytes, the often-overlooked star-shaped glial cells, shape the foundations of brain development, cognition, and social behavior. By bridging disciplines and techniques, from molecular biology to behavioral analysis, the ABCD Lab aims to transform our understanding of the brain.
Our research focuses on several key areas:
Neurodevelopmental disorders (such as ASD): revealing underlying causes and identifying potential therapeutic strategies.
Early sensory interactions: exploring how experiences like touch, smell, and sound between mothers and infants shape cognitive and brain development.
Astrocyte-based technologies: developing innovative approaches to enhance cognition through astrocyte-mediated mechanisms.
The ABCD Lab is dedicated to leading innovative research that highlights the pivotal role of astrocytes in brain function and development.
