Our Perspective Article Published in Neural Regeneration Research
On July 24, 2025 , our perspective article, " Potential role of astrocyte on gamma-aminobutyric acid tone regulation during developmental period ," was published in Neural Regeneration Research (IF: 6.7) and is now available online. In this work, we discuss how astrocytes may regulate GABA tone during early brain development. While GABA is usually known as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the adult brain, it actually has excitatory effects during development, influencing ne

New Review Article in Biological Psychiatry
A new review article, " Tonic NMDA Receptor Currents in the Brain: Regulation and Cognitive Functions, " has been published in Biological Psychiatry . The paper was co-corresponded by Wuhyun Koh and C. Justin Lee , and provides an updated perspective on tonic NMDA receptor currents in the brain. The article explores how neurotransmitters such as glutamate, glycine, and D-serine regulate tonic NMDA receptor activity, and how these mechanisms contribute to synaptic plasticity

A New Beginning in Brain Development Research! Welcome to the ABCD Lab
On July 1, 2024 , we proudly launched the ABCD Lab (Astrocytes in Brain and Cognition Development Lab) , in Korean as “뇌 및 인지 발달에서의 별세포 기능 연구실.” Our mission is to uncover how astrocytes , the often-overlooked star-shaped glial cells, shape the foundations of brain development, cognition, and social behavior. By integrating approaches across disciplines, from molecular and cellular biology to systems neuroscience and behavioral analysis, the ABCD Lab seeks to advance our under
