The first Asia chapter of the International Astrocyte School (IAS) was successfully held in Nanjing, China, from October 11 to 17, 2026! Originally established in Italy, IAS made its way to Asia for the first time, bringing together leading scientists and young researchers in the astrocyte field. It was a great pleasure for Dr. Koh to join as a faculty member alongside renowned astrocyte researchers and organizers Frank Kirchhoff and Richard Robitaille.

During the school, Dr. Koh delivered two talks: an educational lecture, "Studying the Role of Astrocytes in Brain Development," and a research talk, "Unexpected Role of the Autism Gene Ank2 in Astrocytes."

Beyond the lectures, one of the best parts was meeting and exchanging ideas with so many enthusiastic young astrocyte researchers. The Agora presentations were especially memorable, with lively discussions, fresh perspectives, and plenty of fun along the way.

The first IAS Asia Chapter was a promising start, and we hope to continue these scientific exchanges at next year's school !
