In October 2025, Dr. Koh participated in Tsukuba Conference 2025 and the Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum, expanding international academic exchange and exploring new collaborative opportunities.
The Tsukuba Conference is an international platform that brings together emerging researchers and global leaders to discuss the future role of science and technology in society. The neuroscience session organized by the University of Tsukuba was particularly impressive, and the visit provided meaningful opportunities to discuss potential joint research. A visit to International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS) further opened discussions on future collaboration.
At the STS Forum, a global gathering addressing the interface between science, technology, and society, participation in the Young Leaders Program offered a valuable opportunity for dialogue with Nobel Laureates Ryoji Noyori and Duncan Haldane. The discussion centered on the trajectory of scientific careers and the qualities required for impactful research. A particularly memorable remark from Prof. Noyori was “Be the unique, not the first”, underscoring the importance of pursuing originality rather than competing merely to be first.
