We are excited to host Prof. Christine R. Rose (Institute of Neurobiology, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf) for our Wednesday seminar series on June 17, 2026.
Prof. Rose has made major contributions to our understanding of astrocyte physiology and neuron-glia interactions. Her group's recent work, published in Nature Communications (Meyer et al., 2026), revealed remarkable cellular and subcellular heterogeneity in astrocytic sodium homeostasis, highlighting how sodium dynamics may define functionally distinct astrocyte populations in the brain.
In her upcoming talk, Astrocyte Sodium Signaling in Health and Disease, Prof. Rose is expected to provide a broad perspective on the mechanisms and physiological significance of sodium signaling in astrocytes, a field that has gained increasing attention as a key regulator of astrocyte function. The seminar will likely offer insights into how astrocytic sodium dynamics shape brain physiology in both health and disease, as well as their potential roles during brain development.
We look forward to an engaging discussion with one of the leading experts in the field !
